Michael Jackson Still Topping the Charts

After learning of the death of Michael Jackson, radio stations across the world could be heard playing some of his favorite records, to honor the legacy of the King of Pop. I personally want to commend our Memphis radio stations, V101.1, 103.5, K97, and 88.5 for keeping his spirit alive. I’m sure there are other stations who played his music as well, but these are my usual stations that I listen to. According to Singersroom.com, Michael Jackson broke record numbers for the weekend.
Whether you listened to a radio station between Thursday and Sunday, or heard one in passing you know Michael Jackson dominated station playlists. Everything from “Bad” to “Thriller” was played on nearly every radio station.
According to numbers released late Monday, 143 of Jackson’s recordings totaled 67,383 plays for the week ending June 28, up 1,735% from last week’s sum of 3,671 plays (in the United States).
It’s amazing to me, that Thriller is still the #1 best-selling album of all time after 27 years! I commend all the radio stations nationwide for reaching out to his fans and allowing them to express themselves and send out prayers to his family. It lifted my spirits as well.
