Billl & Melinda Gates Donate $90 Million to MCS

 Yesterday Memphis City Schools received $90 million from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and $1.9 million in companion funds.  This is the largest gift that the city’s public schools have received to date.  Read more of the story here.

According to the Commercial Appeal, there are specific guidelines for the use of the funds. My prayer, is that the school officials and Superintendent Cash abide by those stipulations and use the money for what it’s for: the children.  They can also give underpaid teachers a raise–those who deserve it, that is. I don’t believe that a lot of those schools have been on the failing list for nothing. Anyway, that’s a whole other subject. Why spoil this joyous occasion?
